What is Mampoer? South Africa’s Boldest Traditional Spirit

Learn the story of mampoer – South Africa’s legendary fruit-based spirit. Discover how Die Uil distills it from local granadillas in Wellington.

Mampoer is more than just a drink – it’s a story passed down through generations of South Africans. Distilled from fruit and packed with punch, mampoer has long been enjoyed around fires, on farms, and now, at Die Uil Craft Stookhuis.

What is Mampoer?

Mampoer is a traditional South African spirit made by fermenting and distilling fruit – usually peach, apricot or in our case, granadilla. It’s strong, it’s local, and it has a reputation for waking up even the sleepiest dop drinker.

How We Make It

Our PassiePoer is made from passion fruit grown by nearby farmers. The fruit is carefully fermented, then double-distilled using age-old techniques with a modern twist.

Why Try It?

  • Unique to South Africa
  • Seasonal and small-batch
  • Bursting with real fruit character

Be Warned...
